Warranty Company Setup

Introduction:  This page walks you through how to set up your warranty companies in the parts and service module.  These setups walk you through setting a specific labor rate, parts price override, payable and receivable general ledger accounts, and tax-exempt status for your warranty company.

These steps are used only if the warranty company is not already entered in the CRM.

Access the warranty customer information screen.

From the Parts\Service Module, click Edit->Modify->Sources->Warranty.

*You must have permission to access this screen.  If you do not have access, please contact your manager or Sys2k to make a permission change request.

 

The ‘Parts Warranty Customers Information’ window will appear.

 

Entering in Warranty Company Information

Click the “+” at the top of the ‘Parts Warranty Customers Information’ window.  This will add a new warranty company.

To search for a warranty company, see next step, Searching for the Warranty Company.

a) Under Name: enter in the name of the Warranty Company.

b) If the dealership is a multi-location dealership, entering a the warranty company for a specific location is done using the drop-down menu under Dealer Location:

c) Primary tab is where you will enter the company’s contact information.

d) In the Warranty section is where you can enter the Labor Rate Override, Parts Price Category, GL Account for Warranty Payable, and the GL Account for the Warranty Receivable.

e) To mark if the parts and/or labor is tax exempt, check the appropriate checkbox next to Parts Sales Tax Exempt and Labor Sales Tax Exempt.

*GST is for Canadian tax exemptions.

Then click “Apply” and “OK” when complete.

 

Searching for the Warranty Company

To search for the warranty company, either added through the Parts\Service module or the CRM module, click Edit->Modify->Sources->Warranty to pull up the ‘Parts Warranty Customers Information’ screen.

At the top of this screen, click on the search icon (magnifying glass) to open the ‘Search for Warranty Companies’.

If you only know part of the name of the company, you can use the * key.  This is the wild card key, used to substitute any other character(s) in a string.
